This beer is one of four seasonal brews offered by Left Coast Brewing out of San Clemente California.  As a winter brew, I often like to find a dark savory beer to chew on.  This certainly fits the bill.  Out of the bottle The Wedge pours dark with a texture that hints at its heavier nature.  The Hops selection, Centennial, Simcoe, and Mt. Hood offer a nice aroma that is mixed with the dark malt character.

Taste-wise this is a solid well balanced offering with an excellent mouth feel.  The hops do not over power your senses but enter as the keynote flavor that melts into a dark roasted finish that though dry, doesn’t smash your tastes buds.  The essence lingers into the next sip.  That is what this one is folks, a pleasant sipper on a cold night.

I can’t help but wonder at the humor of a winter beer with a wave and what appears to be a surfer on the painted bomber label.  Sitting virtually on the Ocean in San Clemente CA, perhaps the boys at Left Coast are showing northerners such as myself how the other half live.  Well done my friends!  Prost!
