This is Troegs first caged corked bottle offering. As a Belgian tripel it pours out of the glass a bit cloudy with a vigorous small bubbly head. This brew is bottle conditioned and you will find some yeast sediment in the bottom of the bottle. Its color is light amber with an orange tinge and smells of classic Belgian banana and cloves and yeasty funkiness.
The taste hits the mark for a Belgian. It has a bright mouth feel with the high carbonation. It has the characteristic taste imbued by the Abbey Ale yeast choice, banana and cloves. There is an interesting balance between sweet and sour in this beer. It finishes fairly dry with a some bitterness that clings to the tongue into the next sip.
All in all this is a decent entry into the style from a solid American brewer.
