This beer is a part of the insurrection Series produced by 21st Century Brewers out of San Francisco California.  It is available in the winter and aptly so as it might be best imbibed in front of a warm fire on a crisp winter night.  it poured out of the 12 ounce can with about an inch of head.  It is dark amber in color and smells of figs and malty sweetness with the Belgian funkiness customary to the style.

It tastes just as you might expect with figs bananas and cloves dominating the flavor.  The finish includes the Oak aging taste.  Though it is a beer with 8.3% alcohol you wouldn’t know it since it drinks very smoothly.

This is a sipper.  It is well made and is perfect if you are in the mood for a strong dark Belgium beer.
